RATES
All rates are 2 hr. minimum, and the fee is split between the parties unless otherwise agreed upon. Rates vary based on expertise required. Potential variables include complexity of mediation briefs, amount of supporting documents, location/travel involved, number and availability of parties and decision makers, level of correspondence, and need for translators. Rates will be discussed and agreed upon within the mediation agreement prior to mediation.
- Auto Subrogation incl Diminished Value/Loss of Use cases: Rates are discounted to $300/side for a two-hour minimum block.
- Other Property Subrogation cases: $600/hr split with 2 hour minimum. Typically, 4 hours.
- Personal Injury (PI/BI) cases: $600/hr split with 2 hour minimum. Typically, 4 hours.
- Construction disputes: $600/hr split with 2 hour minimum. Typic
- Other cases: B2B, Product, LL/tenant, HOA, Contract, latent defect, Fire insurance etc. $600/hr. Day rates: $4,800.
- CA DOI referral cases: Mediator rates are fixed within contract and insurance company pays fee. $700/day for auto mediation. $1,500/day for home/fire/earthquake.
- VCSC Pro Per mediation program: First 3 hours are pro bono. Thereafter, disclosed hourly rates apply.
- VCSC Party Pay mediation program: Parties pay disclosed hourly rate immediately.
- Los Angeles Superior Court cases and other CA courts: Disclosed and agreed upon hourly rate would apply immediately.
- Idaho Superior Court cases and other Idaho courts: Disclosed and agreed upon hourly rate would apply immediately.
Mediator Observation
I was fortunate enough to have amazing mentors from some of the top mediators there are. They helped me get started and taught me the mediation ropes. Due to its confidential nature, it's difficult to learn the real life techniques that aren't from a book. These opportunities for experience are very hard to find as a mediator.
