1 of ~55 CA Department of Insurance (DOI) approved RQF Program mediators specializing in conflict resolution for auto, fire, and earthquake mediations. Ventura County Superior Court (VCSC) civil unlimited and limited pro-per and party-pay mediator panel approved. VCSC Small Claims supervisor and mediator. As a member of the Southern CA Mediation Association and a selected public outreach speaker, I am committed to enhancing awareness about effective conflict resolution. I also serve as a coaching trainer for the Conflict Resolution Institute's mediation certification training. Previously, I was a member of the Idaho Mediation Association (IMA) Board of Directors. Additionally, I assisted in teaching at the CA State Channel Islands conflict resolution course and received a Certificate of Commendation for Life Saving Measures (USMC).
EDUCATION
I hold an Associates of Arts (AA) in Communications from Ventura College and graduated from the Southern CA Mediation Association mentorship program (4 months). My training includes 28 hours of mediation certification training through the Conflict Resolution Institute (CA) and 40 hours through the Idaho Mediation Association Certification program. I am also a member of the National Association of Subrogation Professionals (NASP) and completed 20 hours of advanced mediation training with the Idaho Mediation Association. I have earned 24 MCLE credits from Pepperdine University’s Strauss Institute and participated in the ‘Negotiating the World of Risk Management’ course at Pepperdine University. Furthermore, I have completed 8 hours of MCLE mediation training through USC – Guild School of Law (via SCMA).
RATES
All professional mediation rates are based on a 2-hour minimum and are typically split between the parties unless agreed otherwise. Mediation rates can vary depending on the expertise required and numerous factors such as the complexity of mediation briefs, amount of supporting documents, travel location, availability of parties and decision-makers, correspondence levels, and necessity for translators. These mediation rates will be discussed and agreed upon in the mediation agreement prior to the session.
For Auto Subrogation, including Diminished Value/Loss of Use cases, the rates are discounted to $450/side for a minimum two-hour block, even with 3 parties. Other Property Subrogation cases incur a fee of $750/hr split with a 2-hour minimum, often requiring about 4 hours. Products/Lemon cases are similarly charged at $750/hr with a 2-hour minimum, typically taking around 4 hours. Personal Injury (PI/BI) cases are charged at $750/hr, generally leading to a 4-hour session minimum. The mediation day rate for larger cases is a flat rate of $6,000. For construction disputes, rates are $750/hr split with a 2-hour minimum, usually around 4 hours. Other cases, including B2B, Product, LL/Tenant, HOA, Contract disputes, latent defect claims, and Fire insurance, follow the same $750/hr rate, with day rates set at $6,000. For CA DOI referral cases, mediator rates are fixed within the contract, with insurance companies covering fees. Auto mediation is priced at $700/day while home/fire/earthquake mediation is assessed at $1,500/day. The VCSC Pro Per mediation program offers the first 3 hours pro bono, after which disclosed hourly rates apply. The VCSC Party Pay mediation program requires parties to cover disclosed hourly rates immediately. For Los Angeles Superior Court cases and other CA courts, an agreed-upon hourly rate is effective immediately. Likewise, Idaho Superior Court cases and other Idaho courts will follow the disclosed and accepted hourly rates promptly.
Mediator Observation
I was fortunate enough to have amazing mentors from some of the top mediators there are. They helped me get started and taught me the mediation ropes. Due to its confidential nature, it's difficult to learn the real life techniques that aren't from a book. These opportunities for experience are very hard to find as a mediator.
